This is from memory and an old very small schematic that I have so bear with me. You can tap receive audio at J3001 pin 2 on the CPU board, this is the board on the other side of the assembly from the main RF board. J3001 is the 6 pin connector on the CPU board that is fed thru to the RF board, not ...

at J1003 pin 4, pin 1 should be at around 8 volts potential. J1003 is the only 6 pin connector on the main RX/TX board.

Another point is on the IF IC, MC3361, pin 9 or on the end of R1039 which is a 8.2 k resistor coming off of PIN 9 of the above IC.

Is it more like a low howling sound rather than a hum that chnges intensity with the audio setting ? I had almost the same problem years ago with a BC-220, mine was the VCO cover making poor contact. Remove the top cover and see if the screws holding the RF shield are coming loose.

I know this is a very old post but I don't read these messages that often. If you read the radio again and when you are at the 8th channel press the PAGE DOWN key on your PC keyboard and you may find that you have more than 8 channels in that radio. Try pressing PAGE DOWN after filling in the next g...

just do a web search for 'yaesu vx7r software', there are several freeware programs that are similar and better than commander that enable you tom perform mods that in the past used to take a hardware change but are now done via software.

Also remember once you have your scan set up the way you desire, that there is also a priority scan adjustment on the s950/990 heads. It is on the top of the control head and the adjustment hole is covered by a plastic plug. If I remember the proceedure correctly, you need to feed in a signal with a...

A Lot of people have recently discovered the Orions and I know a lot that have trashed their spectras and are more than happy with the decision. Go over to the ORION group at Yahoo, you will find more help there than here.

It should work from 435 to 470 without any retuning. If however yours was tuned differently, say much lower or higher in frequency, then these band edges may be off by up 5 Mhz or more. But all you'd need to do is retune the front end preselector and the VCO to get this range back. I had 2 that work...

Your best bet is to go over to Yahoos 'GE' groups or Yahoos 'Orion' radio group and look for Mark, KB4CVN, tell him what you want to do. He is the expert on the Maxon radios.

ge/MaCom will probably give you the flashcode files for free. I'd go over to yahoos GE or ORION groups and look for Mark, KB4CVN and tell him what you want to do. He is always pushing for people to reflash their MPA's from Hamflash back to commercial.

or since you have ge MPA and don't want to get rid of em, use a GE-STAR or T-99 aftermarket signalling board on the rptr, the MPA's already have this built in.

Chris,

It must be unique to the 16 plus controller board as all mine are standard MPD conventional boards that were from UHF and 800 radios.

Do the 16 plus controllers have the little scan/DTMF daughter board that plugs into the main controller.

Chris, Do you mean by pressing a DTMF key and having the radio send the tones as you press the keys ? If so the radio does not work this way, you can either enter a fixed phone list in the programming software then use the Memory location of the desired number and do a FNC-RCL-N (where N is 0 thru 9...
