the radio can't do it, and besides, it isnt type certified to transmit on public safety frequencies so do your agency a favor, don't jeopardize their license...the VX180 is the part 90 version and will handle odd split tones no problem.

DSL is just noisy, puts out alot of hash and trash on the VHF high band. My Westel modem puts out a solid carrier on 155.61 dead on freq. Only thing you can do is run full CTCSS/DCS decode or move the radio to another room (tone remote?).

Need good contact info for Vertex-Standard corporate

Getting the jack around from their so-called "Service dept" have sent a unit in 3 times for warranty service. I'd expect this from Mexirola but not V-S. Anyone have a good contact info for their US HQ? Someone at the executive level. I am that serious. These people are trying their level b...

HT1000's of rev CN or DN do narrowband just fine, and it is programmable by channel. (ie, model number ends in CN or DN).

pretty fast scan rate, not sure of the ch/sec but it's fast... yes, you can mix VHF/UHF freqs in the scan, and nuisance delete is available which lets you lock out nuisance modes during scan. You can also set a mode to skip. the software and cable are only 39 bucks and well worth it, especially if y...

VX-150 oddity

I have a brand new VX-150 I got from GigaParts and it does something strange: Memory channel 1 always gets erased and overwritten by either memory channel 2 data or the last memory channel (in this case 82). I have tried resetting the radio and it still does this. The radio is factory fresh, has not...

VX-177 and VX-127

Well Vertex did it again. When I filled out my warranty card for my VX-170 I asked if they could make a UHF (70cm) version...and apparently they have... well at least GigaParts says so. They list the VX-127 which is an 8-key version (like the VX-120) but UHF, for 159.99 and the VX-177 full keypad ve...

that sounds like selected channel to follow priority on Motorola radios, such as the MTS2000/XTS3000's if setup in CPS this makes whatever channel/mode your selector is sitting on the priority 1 member in the scan list (regardless if it is setup in the list manually).

not sure about the PLS, but I've had many a UHF PCS portables and as long as you have a 440-470 split one (most common) they should work fine no retuning needed. Never owned a VHF so I can't attest to those but I believe they came in two splits like a 136-160 and a 150-174?? someone correct me on th...

TK-880 ver 2 realignment

I have a TK-880 ver 2 I am trying to use on the 440 ham band, sometimes the RX will lock (when the radio is warm) sometimes it won't. Is there a VCO free run adjustment point or alignment menu I can access to notch this RX down so it will lock to say, 442 lowest? I don't care if I lose RX in the T-B...

we have about four of them on our TK-3140's and they are pretty damn tough. RX audio is superb but you do kind of have to get into the mike to get solid TX dev but they sound nice. The coil cords are heavier than most (even the one on my XTS3000 Commander mike). Good size on the head too. Not as big...

assuming you are in the USA, transmitting outside the 144-148MHz amateur band would be illegal, as that radio isn't type accepted for such use. Even if you have a part 90 license, you jeopardize it using such equipment.
