Otto Speaker Mics

Post by Wes »

I am looking for any information, pros and cons on Otto Brand Speaker Mics. We are looking at purchasing some of these for our FD and would like to hear from anyone else who is using them or has used them before we spend the money. Otto offers models that are Immersion rated and that it really what we are interested in, but would like to hear comments on any of their products. We are looking at Immersion rated mics due to the fact that 90% of our current speaker mic failures involve water damage.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I believe them to be the one of the best if not the best. They make EFJ's, MaCom's & Some Moto specialty Mics. We have not yet had any problems with the Immersion rated SpkMikes either, they seem to hold up to there claims.

Hey, I have 5 Ericsson Radios and Otto is the ones who manufacture the mics.
I use them in the FD, and they are the most sturdy mics I have ever used. They really take a beating. One I have is soo scratched and dinged up from letting it smack the pavement and walls, but I still use it as my primary mic. I have 2 backups, but the beat up one does not want to die. I am looking to upgrade to a Motorola MT2000 (when the money comes along) and the first accessory will be an Otto mic.
The only cons is they are obviously a little more expensive, but well worth it.
