Jaesu FT-587 D

I am 73 years old begining to think I am to old to take up short wave radio. I bought a Jaesu Ft 857 D multi band. The manual is confusing so I contacted Jaesu to get some information they said "read the manual", what a big help! I need to find out how to program the radio for our local repeter. At 147.350, Plus and repeter at 88.5 mgh. If some one can describe the way to program this radio, it would be really great.
