Sounds like a wrong control head type. Are there different control heads available for that radio? Can you pick a control head in the programming s/w?

OK Splat,
but I already tried several different configurations and it continues to present the same error.
The options are: A key function, A-Key Emeergency, Mon/Hook, On/Off and Key beep.
I already tried all the options and the mistake persists.
Thanks for your reply.
Best regards,

Is it possible to assign nothing (like a blank key) to all the option buttons? Have you tried that?

Hi Libuff,
I already try to programming using a 386 and a 486... I has tried with 4 different pc (386/40, 486/100, P233 and K6II 500MHz) and get the same error...
Yesterday I has programming 6 radio with no error... Motorola SM50 and Vertex FTL-2011 4/24 chanel... It was in a K6II 500MHz...
I hope some day I can find the solution for this problem...
Thanks a lot...
Best 73´s,
Silva.

I think 99 channel uses a special software. Be sure you have correct programming software.

Here's what worked for me:
programing a FTL-7011 UHF. Toshiba 490CDT running WIN95 in DOS mode. Vertex CE7 v3.3 Was able to read radio after 6 attempts, change channel configuration and upload to radio. As mentioned, you want to use a slow computer.

I have found that most if not all dos software for Vertex, kenwood or motorola radios do not run well if at all in a dos window under windows.
I have a few old 486 machines with just DOS 6.22 on them and I never have a problem
