VX4200 Cable Info

Post by RadioTweester »

This simple little "adapter" cable is for anyone who wants to save a few bucks and already has a CT-29A/CT-42A cable (DB-9 to 3.5mm Stereo plug).
It allows programming of the VX4200 without the need to purchase the VPL-1. It also can program the VMDE-200 MDC/GE board (inside the radio).

It may work on the VX2500 and the VX3200 but I have NOT had a chance to try it yet.

If you have questions reply or PM me.

--Parts--
1 - 1/8" (3.5mm) inline stereo jack (RS#274-274)
1 - RJ45 plug
6" - 24-28AWG 2 conductor wire. It's preferable to use stranded cable, but ethernet/telephone cable will work in a pinch (just be careful not to bend it too much).

--Connections--
C (Center) (data) to pin 1 of the RJ45
End (ground) to pin 4 of the RJ45

Wire Entry--> End C Tip
Stereo Jack: |==|==|==)

RJ45 (Ethernet plug)
