VX-800V and VX-900V Squelch Questions

I notice in some places where there are eletronics or a wireless router for a computer, the squelch opens up on me unless I have the radios set at like squelch 6. What level do the users here have their radios set at? I leave the squelch set at 1 on my 929 and never have a problem with it opening but its UHF.
