VX-P829-G8-5 can it be modded out of band?

I recently picked up a nice little VX-P829-G8-5 portable with all the accessories. I have a version 3.something software that seems to read and write it fine and a usb ribless cable. Unfortunately, it's a 380-450 unit and and I would like to at least cover up to 460 or 470 if possible. Is there anything I can do with this setup to move the top of the band up from 450?
