tuning a kenwood tk-630h

I was wondering if any one could give me any info on how to tune a kenwood tk-630?Also if a tk-630 in the 29-37 range is tuned will it do any freq form 29-50 mhz? Thanks for any info

The low split unit should go down to 29 MHz. If you use the "SP Tune" mode in the software it will accept frequencies from 29-54 but a low split unit will not tune more the 1 MHz or so above 37.

A low split can probably be made to work on 10 M and a high split to work on 6M with VCO and Rx front end retuning if you have the equipment and experience to do it. Converting a low split to cover 40-50 really is not possible unless you want to rebuild the RF circuits.

I once modified a mid-cut (36-42 MHz) TK-630 to a high cut (42-50 MHz) as a favor to a friend. It took a bit of time and a lot of factory parts, some of them quite expensive, and in retrospect was a complete waste of time. If you've got one that isn't in the cut you desire, sell or trade it on E-Bay and buy what you need.
