New System, New Problems

Post by High_Order1 » Fri Nov 17, 2006 9:36 pm

Hi!

I am used to programming radios, but have no experience with the EFJ units.

What is needed to program a 5100 series radio? Which software package? is there a RIB-like device? I can't find any on eBay, can one and the appropriate cabling be had cheap?

Thanks!!

You will need the programming cable, EFJ part number 023-5100-920. It has a serial 9 pin connector on it to go directly to a computer.

You will also need the software for the radio. Not sure what the firmware is in your radio. The software needed will be deopendent
on the numbers that show up on the display when you first power up the radio. The EFJ part number for the software may be
023-9998-488.xxx. The xxx wil be the required version.

Your best bet is to contact a local EFJ dealer or call the company directly in Texas.
