Handset extension cable help

Post by gmoyer »

I have a Maxon SM 4150 that I am mounting in the dash of my truck. This will make the handset connection inaccessible. I want to build a short extension cable so that one end will plug into the radio, the other end will plug into a pass-thru connector on the back side of the dash and the handset then would plug into the pass-thru connector from outside the dash. Think of it as simply putting two phone cables together with a pass-thru connector. In fact the standard RJ11 modular phone plug fits the radio's connection but the plug has only four pins. Same with the pass thru boxes - they have slots for 6 pins but only 4 are occupied. The radio connector uses 6-pins I need to know what type of cable, connectors and pass-thru box I need to build this extension.

Thanks
