New EFJ user; Adding FPP to a 5100?

Hello! I am a proud, new owner of a used 5100 full keypad handheld, v4.4.16. I've used some before with CAP, but this one is the first one I've bought. When it arrived yesterday, I was surprised how light it felt! Compared with my XTS3000, it was noticeably lighter even though it is bigger. Overall, my initial thoughts are very positive, but I've got to get it programmed before getting on the air.
I do not have any EFJ programming hardware/software, so I talked with a dealer today. He said that FPP can enabled at the dealer level, and as a ham that is a very big plus! Is that all that is necessary, or do I have to purchase an upgrade from EFJ, similar to Motorola with the XTS 2500/5000?
