Old Radio Information

I was digging through a box of my junk from the last century, and came across a nice looking radio:

EFJohnson Avenger 242-7403-021 It has a numeric keypad on the front plus some fairly standard control buttons.

What the heck is this? I vaguely recall buying some used mobile radios at a ham fest many years ago. They would have been claimed to be usable for GMRS or 2m or 70cm, since that is what I had handhelds for at the time.

No longer supported, of course. Anybody have specs or even a manual?

Thanks,
John

I have three of those Avenger radios, 2 VHF and one UHF with . My UHF one is mdl. 242-7403-022, maybe just revision of your -021- radio.
The vhf ones I have are 136-174 MHZ and the uhf is 400-500 MHz.
I have a manual which I believe is the same for both radios. I can probably help you with a copy of the manual if you need it.

--Some adtl. info., there were two power output versions of both the vhf or uhf radios... 10 watts low or 25 watts high on the low power version and 20 low and 40 high on the high power version. They're both 99 channel radios.
