Midland CB Help

Post by redbird »

I have a Midland 77-882 with a stange problem. When turned on it is transmitting, but receiver audio is still on. There is some feedback squeal. Transmitt meter is full scale. If ptt is pressed meter falls back to half scale and shows voice modulation. Transmitter is still on when mic is unplugged. Transmitt power is normal. Anyone seen this this problem before?

Does it start TXing as soon as you turn it on, or do you have to key it up first, after which it won't un-key? If the later of the two, check the SWR of your antenna. Extremely high SWR can cause this problem in many lower-end CB radios.
