Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB
Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB
Is it possible to convert a Mot RIB to replace the GE/Ericsson TQ3310 or TQ3370? Thanks.

Re: Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB
In my many years of screwing with GE stuff, I've never heard of it even being in the realm of possibility.
But I suppose with enough wire, solder and patience anything can be coverted to anything!

I do not remember where I saw it but I have seen reference to an add on adapterSplat wrote:Is it possible to convert a Mot RIB to replace the GE/Ericsson TQ3310 or TQ3370? Thanks.
for the TQ3370 to make it emulate a standard moto rib(not the smart rib), so it
must be possible to go the other way but i have not seen reference to that.

OK - I found it on the hall electronics ge tech web site - see below:

They claim this adapter is on the price industries web site but i don't see any reference to it on their
unless i missed it somehow.

Re: Possible?: Mot RIB to Ericsson RIB
It would be pretty easy to emulate a basic Motorola RIB for some of the newer radios by using a GE interface, but not the other way around.
The Motorola bus is a variation on the RS-485 differential bus standard, to varying degrees depending on the radio model. The GE interface signals are quite different and include a flash-memory programming signal (+12) and other connections. Converting signals might work for certain models, depending on the signals they require, but it's no direct conversion, that's for sure. Most GE/Ericsson compatible cables are available in RIB-less versions for less cost than the original RIB type cables, so there wouldn't really be much need to convert anyway.
