F-30GS

Post by atomic475 »

Hey everyone,
I have a F-30GS VHF-high with the EM-80 Speaker mic. I was wondering if anyone had experience using this setup for interior firefighting? If so, how does it hold up? Any Problems?

Also, for using it as a pager (ie: motorola minitor) is there any way to turn the volume of the beep up on it, as it does not sound very loud compared to the key beep, except for the volume knob?

Thanks everyone for your help in advance...

Well I'd use the Otto version mike myself...but...the radio is great for firefighting, but I found the Otto mike can get trashed and still works. I use mine all the time.

Does anyone know how to make the volume louder on this radio? IS there a programming setting, an internal modification, or do I need to use a differnt speaker mic than an EM-80 by icom? Thanks for all help in advance...

There are some settings you can access that might help. Power on the radio while holding down the 2 buttons below the PTT. The display will show something like user settings for a second or 2 then it will go to a normal display. Now press the P0 button, the first one on the left. It will scroll through several screens where the user can make adjustments. Use the 2 side buttons to make the changes. There is a minimum volume setting that might help you out. PL
