F520/620 data radios

Post by n7dal »

Does anyone know anything about the BIIS version of the F520/620? It appears to be capable of 1200 baud data TX/RX. Who is using it and for waht? AVL perhaps?

The BISS Model was supposed to be released in the US for AVL among other basic things. Last year I sat thru a conferance on programming them. This year when I asked about them I was told they were having software problems with the 3rd party vendor. I think its on a slow burner now.

From what I was told by ICOM this is used alot in europe. The only cool thing to use them for in the us is small txt message streams to and from radios, ie: status messageing. It does a small amount of them, but not sure how many.

hope this sheds some light on it....
