FAA/FAB/FAC EPROMS

Post by ka7wnf »

I just copied the contents from the following eproms. FAA-JPWD, FAB-JPYD, and FAC-JPZD. Then I compared the contents in hex editor and discovered that they are identical byte for byte. So why does Kenwood label them differently if they are identical?

I know that the latest version firmware does them all(I cannot find the part number right now) is it possible someone read the latest and copied it into those old chips?

eproms

probably not. they all came from different sources. they still had original untampered kenwood stickers on them. it would have been necessary to peel of the stickers to uv erase the eproms.

FAA FAB FAC

Post by John342a »

I just put together a daul band set up. Main radio is a tk-630h and the 2nd radio is a tk-830. The 830 has a FAC chip but I left the FAA chip to see if it works. It work OK. I guess all the chips might be the same.
