80 Series 2-Tone Encode

Post by KG4VDK »

In all the literature I have seen about the 80 Series mobiles, everything has some little statement about these radios ability to do 2-Tone encoding. I cannot find this feature anywhere in the programming software. Anybody familiar with this feature's existence. It would great to be able to use it. Thanks

Kenwood Tk-780, 880 mobiles, or TK-280, 380, portable radios do not support 2-tone encode. They support 2-tone decode only.

The TK-7180 will do it, as well as the TK-270 and 272 (as well as the UHF models of these).

I'm not sure why Kenwood seems to include 2-tone decode in certain models, seemingly at random.

Odd.
