hooking up a Kenwood tkr 830 to a tone pannel

Post by ff/emt/kc2nfb »

im trying to hook up a Kenwood tkr 830 to a Communications Specialists TP-3200 tone pannel. i can get all the functions to work but i cannot get the tone pannel to decode ctcss or dcs. im used to motorola service manuals which are very detailed. kenwood manuals are not as detailed. im sure that the rx audio at the db25 connector is filtered and the tone panel needs unfiltered audio. does anyone know where on the rx board i can find the discriminator output. thank you

830 or 890? The 30 series doesn't have a DB-25 on the back. Detector out would be pin 4 of the 15 pin accessory connector on the 30 series radio. On the 90 series radio, it would be pin 19 on the DB-25 connector.

Sorry about that...I didn't see the "R" in the model number. Sounds like you figured it out anyway.

Good luck.
