Version question on Kenwood gear

First let me open by saying that I am a Motorola GE and lately Vertex guy, with almost no Kenwood experience.

With that said. I am working on a job for a customer, a small town DPW. They have a mixed fleet of radios, which includes some Kenwoods.

One radio in the fleet is the TK-7160 there are some version 1 radios and some Ver 2. What is the difference? Can a version 1 radio be upgraded?

I am attempting to add ani via the Fleetsync feature to all the mobile rigs, at least on the Kenwoods in the fleet. Will having two different versions affect this in any way? The other radios are the tk-7160 and a tk-790 for the base unit.

Any caveats on getting these radios to play together? Any help appreciated.
