Tk 830 constant speaker output

Post by acfd16n78 »

when power radio up get the normal beep, than it has slight hum and can hear faint beeping. Does not change with speaker volume adjustment. And when receiving sounds fine. Anyone got any Ides? Basicly sounds like an open mic.

Changeing the channel doesnt matter, volume doesnt matter. It stays the same, until someone talks back then it sounds normal

Try disconnecting the antenna and put a dummy load on it if you have one. If the noise stays it's something wrong with the radio. Also just thought of this. Is it mobile or in a base setup? Does it change with location? If mobile does it change with engine on or off?

It is a mobil unit, I didn't have an antenna connected when I did this. But I think you are right, I think there is a problem with the radio. Problaly why the person sold it. EEEERRRRR Pisses me off. I sent an email to kenwood requesting info on sending it in for repair. I am thinking a relay n the board is stuck on or something. Sucks, I have a tk 730 g but the board wont work in that on I dont think.

Might be pretty spendy to have fixed. That's a fairly old radio now.

Excellent work! Do have it hooked to ignition sense so it goes off with the key?

Thats the wire in the back of the head? Because I tried to hook it up to a hot when key on and it didnt work. I dont mind shutting it off everytime. I am just happy I dont have to send it in for repair!!!!!!!

Here, go to this guys website and read up on how to make it work with the ignition. It's fairly easy if you are comfortable opening the radio and going at it with a wire cutter and soldering iron. http://www.eurekaboy.com/tk730/tk730ignition.htm

I would be curious to know what in the truck is making the noise. Could be a sign of bad grounds, bad alternator or battery.
