TK-862 issue

Post by k0kjl »

My father in law is having an issue with one of his TK-862 radios in his tractor. This is the older version, only 2 channels. The radio will power on and change channels, but that is about it. I took the radio apart to look around and seem to have come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the metal cover piece on the inside. I'm guessing this is covering the pa maybe? If I give the rectangular metal cover a couple of taps it will come back to working, transmit fine, audible sounds come back on, but it will eventually go back to not working again. I've had to do this a few times over the last year but decided I'd come here and see if I could find any answers. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Kyle

Sounds like a cold solder connection....but where! Remove and re solder anything that looks questionable, good luck!
