TK762G (8 ch) powering off problem

Post by n_zero_ndp »

Going to sell this radio to a local FF only to find out it is defective when changing the programming.
The radio will power on then power off after only a few seconds or so - or it will power up fine until
12v is removed. Seems to need to have 12v removed for about 30 seconds before it will successfully power on again.

I love intermittent crap like this - any educated guesses out there???

I had a TK-830 that did that. It turned out to be a leaky electrolytic capacitor in the control head. Examine all the caps and see if any show signs of leakage or damage.

Yeah,
My only thoughts were it must be a bad cap. I have some TK930's that had a bad
SMD transistor that would keep them from powering up - just jumpered them and had to
pull them power cord off. I suppose I will get my magnifier out...
