TK-8180 crossbanding

Post by bradlington »

K-8180 crossbanding information needed.

I am in need of a proven interfacing of the TK-8180 /TK-7180 radio .

Anyone done this successfully and have some tech info for me.

I did a similar one with TAIT's using the AUX function to switch the crossband on/off - need same basic principle.

Thanks

1. use the DB-25 pin accessory to interface an 8180 to 7180
2. 8180 pin 17 to 7180 pin 6 with a 22k resistor in the line
3. 7180 pin 17 to 8180 pin 6 with a 22k resistor in the line
4. 8180 pin 22 with 22k resistor to base of transistor (2N222A). transistor collector to 7180 pin 21. transistor emitter to 7180 pin 18.
5. 7180 pin 22 with 22k resistor to base of transistor (2N222A). transistor collector to 8180 pin 21. transistor emitter to 8180 pin 18.

on the programming software:

set AuX/ DB-25 pin 21 to Input - Ext PTT (Voice) Low
set Aux/ DB-25 pin 22 to Output - TOR
set Modulation Line - Ext OTT (voice) - MI2 Line Connect

Good luck !

Hope this helps.

Make sure the Tor is set to high not low. I wired mine up using a double pole double throw relay wiring the tors to this. I used 12v+ from the db25 connector and programmed one the radios buttons too aux and set it as low. So i can turn the crossband function on and off as I go. Work's like a champ!
