Programming a Kenwoos tk-810

Hi all, does anyone know anything about a tk-810 UHF mobile and how its programed?. Like to try to get it going on the Ham band, seems to be a 10 channel radio and its heavy for its size.thank you very much. Davie n-3-c-h-u at atlanticbb dot net

It is not PC programmable. It requires the KPT-20 programming device.

If you are into that sort of thing you can probably remove the eeprom and edit the code and write to it with an eeprom programmer.

I do not know if it will go down into the ham band without retuning or modification. It is pretty much an old "boat anchor" not worth the effort.

Thank you for your reply, I sort of figured that and I will take a crack at it as I like a challange. I didnt pay very much for it but it DOES transmit and recieve, but dont think I would go out and buy a programmer for it just for 10 channels(I think thats all it does) never have seen one of these before. so thank you for the good info as thats is exactly what I needed to know. thanks again.
