TK2200 Sound problems

Post by wpflum »

Since repair parts and labor cost more than a new unit I figured I'd try to track down the issue myself before relegating the Radio to the parts bin.

I have a TK2200 ProTalk that has no sound when receiving, the kicker is that when I turn it on I do hear the Beep and the voice saying 'One' and if I change channels I still hear the voice saying the channel. I can transmit fine and even after copying settings with a cable and software instead of just cloning, to see if something was amiss in the firmware settings in the radio, I still get nothing when the radio is called.

Is this a common problem for these radios??

Am I missing something in the setup even when I copy from a working unit?

I was hoping it might be a setting or user setting that is sticking and could be fixed by resetting the unit back to factory but even that didn't do it.

Ideas??

We get a lot of these(UHF version, instead though), that will transmit but not receive and I believe it is a crystal they replace. I believe our repair cost to the customer is like $100.00 or so. It's not something we can do in house though.
