What do you think?

Post by Alex »

I was browsing around, and found a newer version of this board. It's not a final release yet, however, after playing around it is far superior.

One great advantage is that it will send you an email when you get a private message :) I think I need to fix one of the Emoticons so far, but it seems that things are working well.

What do people think? :)

(please post your oppinions below too. There might be something you don't like that's pretty easy to fix!)

Slower loading.

It's probably just my Mac but with the new version the site seems to load a little slower than the old version did.

This is probably because of two things:

This software is a "release canidate" They are still working out bugs, and probably haven't streamlined it.

This version has more features - so it's going to tax my server a bit more to draw the page. What Browser are you using? What speed mac? Maybe I can be of further assistance.

Another possibility I thought of later - this is run off a T1 where I work. If its during the day the possiblity exists that it will get slower due to traffic inside/outside the network. If it gets horribly slow, I'll consider moving it back to school where it will be on an OC3.

Thanks for the feedback!

Cool!

It's probably the traffic during the day at work then. If it becomes a problem, I'll consider moving the machine around.

Thanks!

Alex,

It looks great...but I had to do a double take, thought I went to the
wrong place at first!!

Keep up the good work.

New Board

This sure looks good to me. I hope Batlabs thinks about switching to this new format when they get back online.

I like the new layout. And yes, if/when the BatBoard comes back up, they should switch.

It was a bit of a pain to get it to do the upgrade, however, I'm still discovering new features - if you log in with different machines, it remembers what YOU have read - and that is not cookie based. So when I go home from work, it shows me the same stuff I have read, or not read for that matter.

It also has a link to show all the active topics that I have not read yet, with no restrictions on the date, which is very helpful as well.

I'm working on slowly getting an event calendar going so that people can post information about hamfests or other related events somewhere, but that's slow going for now. We'll see how much time I have at work later.

Thanks for all the feedback!

New Board

Post by Monty »

I thnk anyone who takes
' their " own time and effort to assist others should be well thanked !

I also feel its a very worthy effort to have a place where 1000's, perhaps
10's of thousands can voice their opinions to maybe cripple the ever more
price increases we see @ ~/\/\~

Although many may like them, the Emoticons should go. Most persons
might see them as taking up space, and slowing previews down.

Hate to say it, but I too prefere this board over the old one....Lots
of features to use !

Keep up the good work !
