MVS out of band?

Post by JerryReed »

I have found a GE MVS on ebay that I would like to buy. The seller insists that it can be programmed anywhere between 140-174 MHz, but his model number is listed as NPFH30SS, which is the high split (150-174 MHz). The seller claims Ham frequencies can be forced into the radio.

How is this possible? Is this possible? It would seem to me that extensive tuning or component replacement of some kind would be necessary.

I would appreciate any input on this before I buy. I would like to use this radio, or inexpensive alternative, for a mobile APRS tracker for my car.

Thanks, Mike KC0IWH

Yes. Enter frequency, then use 'control E'
