need help Id'ing Ericsson HT

Post by n9gik »

I purchased a couple GE Ericsson handheld radios on ebay. They were good looking bricks. I got both HT’s, 3 batteries, and 2 drop in chargers, hoping to get them set up on our local Fire Department /EMS dispatch frequencies.

I took them to my local GE dealer to get them programmed and they said they had never seen this particular model! They said they probably had the software needed but didn’t have the cable.

The radios are Ericsson model KRD 103 117/1 R1a and we are wanting a couple 151 and 152 mhz frequencies put in them.

They currently have "dot" freqs inthem and a digital squelch.

I’m looking for an inexpensive way to get them programmed for our local volunteer Fire Department frequencies.

Can you help me out?

Hi Mike --

Those sound like KPC's or Panther 500's...do they look like this: http://www.hallelectronics.com/getech/img/ppkp.gif?

If you're local shop said they hadn't seem them before, I'd think about looking elsewhere...also tell them they're Panther 500's, that may make a difference.

They can be programmed with ProGrammer, which I'm sure the shop has - it may truly be they don't have a cable.

Let me know if that is indeed the radio.

I'm not sure exactly what I can and can't do on this board, but I'll give it a shot. Here is the photo from ebay

If that doesn't work you can go to Item number: 3828014777. My local GE dealer has been leaning toward Kenwood the last few years. Customers are beginning to go "GE..Ericsson..MACOM..Who?" And to be honest I've always had a leaning more toward other brands. But these looked like a good buy for the application and Chris and Tim have always been very good about helping me.

They are NPC200's... OEM was UNIDEN on these - their model # SPH155xx.

NPC200 16 Channel 146- 174 5W KRD 103 117/ 1
Maintenance Manual AE/LZB 119 1658
Operators Manual AE/LZT 123 1883

Seems that you need a Uniden dealer to help you with these. The M/A-COM Windows ProGrammer does not program this radio, so I suppose you need the Uniden SPx ware & cable......
