Confused in programming and MDX

Post by kc2ixe »

I'm confused..... (well duh :) )
I just got my hands on a full up MDX - wide open EDACS/AGEIS UHF rig. My past experiences with the MDX has been with a 16 channel, so that was easy to setup

I'm setting the rig up all conventional for ham radio use - yep, the EDACS and AGEIS are just going to sit

Anyway - Looking at ProGrammer - I understand the concept of "Conventional Frequency Sets" - what I would call "Modes" in the M/PA world

It then looks like these sets are grouped into "systems"

And each personality (aka radio) can have multiple systems? (yes/no?)

Anyway - What are the pros/cons of multiple systems - or do I just want to stick with multiple sets in one system?

Here is what I was thinking if I understand it right

First - I setup 3 sets for my county
1)Repeaters
2)Reversed
3)Outputs
and put them into one system named for my county (Call it NYC Group)

then do the same for the next county (Nassau/Sufolk) - and make THAT into a system

repeat as needed

and then put them all into one radio -

Or am I just confused - and you can only have one "system" on the radio

What package number is your mdx?

This website might help answer your question about systems (though it makes no mention of an EDACS package in UHF)...

I looked at the Hall site - no go. I don't know the package number, as it's not here yet. A local GE guy cleared up my confusion - thanks
