Hello. Kind of getting into the whole GE thing, and I see a lot od PD's around me are also. I really like the looks, and the specs of the Orion radios (I am only familiar with the Rangrs). I would like to get a UHF w/system head and possibly the siren option.
My questions include:
What model numbers do I look for (I am sure they range w/power)
Are the buttons programable on the front head? Choice of options?
Do all these radios come with ID,scan, squelch control, page, alert?
And also, where can I buy a good one from a good person? Any ideas to a shop or an individual?
Thank you so much for your help!

The buttons on the front of the SCAN head have limited programming options, but almost every button & knob on the SYSTEM head is programmable with a bucket full of options.
Every version of Orion has dual priority scanning, squelch control, 2-tone decode, single-tone/2-tone,5-tone encode, G-STAR encode, plus plenty of other things that I cannot recall...
Some of the first folks that come to mind as Orion suppliers would be:
FMR http://www.fmr-inc.com/
New London Technology http://www.newlondontechnology.com/
They are pricey, but reputable sellers of quality stuff......
