Kenwood TK 2180

Post by k2101 »

I just got the new TK 2180 VHF portable radio in for a demo... This radio is the replacement for the TK 2140 and 280 portables. The radio will do conventional, ltr trunking and two tone decode all together with no problems. Seems to be fairly sensitive on recieve and performs like all the rest of the Kenwoods that I have owned (very well). Anybody else out there that has one of these that can share any experiences?

The TK-2180 is Awesome!!!!

We have 4 of them at our shop and so far they are really doing good. It is like they took all the features from the TK-2160, TK-270G, TK-280, TK-2140, TK-290 and rolled them all into one radio.

512 channels, 2-tone encode/decode, Dual Priority, the list goes on and on.... The RX and TX parameters are right up there with the 90 series portables.

And even though it doesnt have a top display, I still love mine.

I just got a 3180 and love it. Very configurable, seems to be well built, and the programming s/w is good(and inexpensive). It's the programming cable that's expensive!

Odd ... I don't see a listing on Kenwood's web site. Anyone link to a brochure?
