VX-900 UHF programing

Post by STD »

I am going to buy a Vertex VX-900 UHF (400 Mhz to 430Mhz) soon.
I would like to also program the HAM Band into this radio (from 430Mhz to 440Mhz).
I ask someone and he told me Vertex cannot program the frequency which higher than they factory setting. I donot know it is true or not.
My request : If can program the 430Mhz to 440Mhz, the radio can TX and RX normal ?
appreciate anyone value information.

 If memory serve correctly, the DOS software may let you go out of band.

I only have the windows software for the 600/900.

BTW, if you want to do MDC1200, get the Cimeron Corp board. It will encode and DECODE the signalling.

Great radio. Have sold many to PD's and fire. just the right size, and great audio output.

Hello Paul,
Many thanks your value information.
I only have CE39 Windows programming Software, could you tell me where I can buy the Dos Ver. ?
According you information, the VX-900 cannot program to 440Mhz am I right ?
I have experience program the Astro Saber in DOS. so do you meant I need to do hacking in the software due to Saber III also needs to do.
About the MDC1200 Board which you mentioned, do you know how much is it and do I need to buy their program software to do programming this board ?
Appreciate your value information.

 I may have the DOS program in the laptop. Just need to find the laptop. Moved a month ago, some things still missing.

The board for MDC1200 is made by Cimmeron corp. It will progrsm with the vertex windows software, not sure about the DOS. Where to buy, not sure. Check for the company website, and see if they have any dealers in your area, or if you cna buy direct. I think it is about 150 buks.

If I can locate the laptop, I can copy the dos program and zip it to you.

:eeek: Just for s&g's, I just checked the windows software. It will take 440 freqs, but the vco may not lock to allow it to tx and rx.

I put some 495/499's in my demo at one time. It would tx at 499 but not receive the 495 freq. It only put out 2 watts or so.

I will keep looking for the laptop.

Thanks your value information.
If the Vertex VX-900UHF (400Mhz-430Mhz) model can program to 437Mhz is enough for me due to I use in HAM Band.
If you can find the Dos Software please let me know.
By the way, I saw there is 2 AD on EBAY about the DOS Version but the seller told me that Program Software not for VX-900.
The MDC1200 Board company which you told me, I found the correct name is [CIMARRON TECHNOLOGIES] and their Web Site is http://www.cimtechcorp.com

# To All Vertex Users : if you know how to program the VX-900 UHF up to 437Mhz, please teach me !

Hi Muggsy09,
Many thanks your value information.
Now my probelm is I could not find out a answer that the Vertex VX-900 USA1 (403Mhz-430Mhz) model can be programmed up to 437Mhz or 440Mhz. It is because I would like to use HAM band with this handheld.
I have the CE39 RSS and also owned CE39 Forest RSS too.
Best Regards,

I'm not sure about the Vx900 but I've tryed to program my VX10 out of band and had no success. The radio just beeps. I'm not sure what split you need but how about getting on with the higher UHF band split like the 440-490 split.....maybe you need the low split nas would also like to use it for HAM........????? the only thing I could say is give it a shot if it doesn't work put the thing on ebay.

Normally, I only need the 430Mhz to 437Mhz for HAM BAND use.
The model that I am going to buy is VX-900 UHF AS1 model and the spec shown the frequency cover range is 403Mhz to 430Mhz only.
Thus, if it can program more 7 Mhz (to 437mhz) it is enough for me.
Due to in my country the UHF HAM Band is between 430Mhz to 437Mhz.
If I buy another Europe model the frequency strat from 440Mhz and I worry it can not going down to 430Mhz (total 10Mhz lower)
Apprecaite your prompt

 My laptop is not here. It may be at the radio shop, they were using it last month. thought it was here.

I will see what i can do about retreving it tomorrow, and if it will go 7 meg up from 430.

Sorry I did not get back sooner. Spent more time in hospital. Getting tired of going there last 14 months, now know too many employees ther.
