Never mind, I got it.
What the problem was is that i was using a cable that had the connection to my computers com port, but the other end had a connection that plugged into the mic jack on the vx-10, i was looking around and found another extension of this cable, and u plug the extension into the male connecter that wouldve went into the mic jack, and then plug the extension into the mic jack and it worked perfectly

Thanks again though for all your help it is greatly appreciated, without your wisdom and time explaining to me on how to do this, I would have never gotten this done.

Thanks again!!!!

That's the three conductor-to-four conductor conversion cable I was talking about. Some Vertex/Yaesu radios required the three conductor version to program; the VX-10 and some others I believe, need the four conductor plug. Glad to be of help.
