1/4 wave for tk 280

Post by azFIREguy »

I have a buddie at work that has a tk 280 that he uses for work at our FD. He asked me tonite if you can get a 1/4 wave antenna for it. I have found them online at antenex but my question is should I order it with a BNC connector for this radio and get the adapter for it or should I get the threaded bace antenna?

Anytime you can avoid an adapter do it

You take up more space, give more chances for disconnect or breakage, and have signal loss. If you can get an antenna to connect to the radio without needing an adapter, do it that way.

Get the proper antenna and do not use an adapter. The additional stress on the radio antenna connection from the adapter will probably break it sooner or later.

for those who would like to know this is what i got from antenex
This is our recommendation:

If you can use antennas for individual frequency use then I suggest to use the DEXB150SFU (150-162 MHz) and the DEXB164SFU (164-174 MHz)

If you want to use one antenna for the 154 and 168 MHz band I would suggest the DEXB155SFU (155-164MHz)

For a taller antenna and maybe more range you can use the DEXH150SFU and DEXH155SFU
these where based on 154.xxx through 170.xxx BLM frequencies I use
