PCS & PLS

Post by giantake »

Hi All,

Will the PCS and PLS series of handhelds move to ham bands on VHF and UHF without to many problems? I see them around and they look like interesting radios to play with. Cheap!

They probably need to be retuned, but just curious if the VCO's are OK and if there are any software programming issues.

Thanks, -Steve/WA6OXN

not sure about the PLS, but I've had many a UHF PCS portables and as long as you have a 440-470 split one (most common) they should work fine no retuning needed. Never owned a VHF so I can't attest to those but I believe they came in two splits like a 136-160 and a 150-174?? someone correct me on this...
