kenwood tk-690 790 890 changing a remote head to direct head

Post by avtarsingh »

I just received a tk-690 that had a KRK-6DH dual head remote kit - but i dont have a kct-22 remote cable for it -
so i want to just attach the head directly to test / program it etc -

what jumpers do i need to attach to get the unit to work etc ?
i have W501 from the radio connected to the head CN1

on the radio CN504 has a jumper but isnt attached to anything -

radio side cn508 and cn507 aren't connected to anything

any help would be appreciated - the service manual is on order ..but until then..

thanks

According to the manual, that should be it (W501) to (CN1).

CN 507 is for an ANI board.
CN 508 is for a voice scrambler board.

You only need CN504 to bring functions out to the accessory jack of the remote head. If you are not using the remote kit, you can remove the jumper.

Which head do you have...the KCH-10 basic head with speaker, or the KCH-11?
