problems reading vx 3000

Post by kb8ibp »

I was wondering if any one out there is having this problem, the rss program comes up (by the way I am using ce19d ver 4.4) when I tell it to upload(read the radio) it then ask if you want to upload click on ok I do and it says waiting, the radio says clon but that is all that happens.
I am some what familiar with vertex I have a vx-10, vx160, and a vx180 and this computer has no issues with them what so ever I am using a dell Laptop at 100mhz I even modified a moto rib box from the info from bat labs and it is doing the exact same thing so I know the cables are ok.
This is a radio I bought off ebay and the owner of it says it programs fine, he is even willing to take it back and relist it, he seems to think it is user error on my part. And I am begining to think he might be right.
any and all help would be appriciated.
thanks a bunch in advance.

Ron,

You'd metioned having VX10, VX160/180, do you have that programming cable too? (ADMS Ham cble will work also).

If so you might want to try the cheap adapter I posted under
VX4200 Cable on Feb 17 2005.

I don't remember if it's error 3 or 4 that indicates a cable error. (It's connected to the right pins???).
With the gold pins up and where the wire exits the connector toward you, the furthest left is data and then the 4th pin from the left is ground.

programming problem on vx3000

Post by kb8ibp »

Well I got it working, after talking to a local dealer he let me borrow his programming cable for one week.
the cable is different than the one I bought off ebay.
This cable had a din plug on it to interchange between the rj45 type connector used for mobiles and the phono type plug that goes into hand held radio's.
in the rj-45 plug on this one uses pin 1,2,3, and 4 on the after market one I bought use pin 1,2 and 4 so I take it pin three is needed to program the vx3000.
Now I need to find where I can buy one of these.
