orion remote head

Post by mokena208 »

I was wondering if anyone can offer techinical advise.... I purchased 3 800 mhz EDACS Orions off of E-bay and it seems that one the remote head has some sort of problem. When I connect it all up, and turn the power knob, the radio unit starts to have a light buzz or hum/rumble kind of noise. I tried a different remote head and the unit powers on without any problem. I tried swapping different cables, remote heads and radio units and it seems to be with the one remote head.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the cause, and more importantly how to fix it? I know it is used electronics, buyer beware, so I am not totally upset, but would like to know if it could be an easy fix or if I should just bite the bullet and purchase a new head.

Thanks in advance!

It could be programmed as a second control head (control unit B). If this is the case, the display will not come up and the radio will make a slight hissing noise. Not sure how loud your buzz or hum is.
