Anyone have experience with this new unit? I see it covers down to 146 MHz, but does it go down to 144 MHz in the software?

Any input appreciated, especially soon...

 We have two demos, of both vhf and uhf. I palyed with the uhf. Nice radio, quality audio, just slightly smaller than the vx 180. 2 tone decode easier to program.

The display is nice for the radio size, but I could do without the keypad. I am going to use th vhf fpr a pager. No more minitors. Not reliable.

Only to 146

I can only get mine down to 146mhz. I don't know if there are any tricks beyond this. I have both the 424 and 414. Great radios. Pair them with the cimmaron MDC1200 board and you have a Motorola killer.

Here's an idea that MIGHT work.
*Be aware that the new frequency range may not be in tolerance with factory specs.

Locate someone who has a Version A radio (134MHz-160MHz).
Obtain a download file from there radio (name.ce64).
After editing the template to your Ham/CAP/MARS frequency needs, attempt to upload the file into your radio.
The radio might take the file, it might not.
If it does let me know.

I know 417/420 lends it's self to a lot fooling around when it comes to hardware configuration (ex. changing a VX417 into a VX420).

Hope this works for you.
