I have a Vertex VX-900 and Big M Astro Saber 3 VHF.
I use the simplex channel to communicate with my friend and they told me the MDC1200 between VX-900 and Astro Saber 3 PTT ID sound is total different that they heard in their radio and I also found out use my Scanner and they are right
Does anyone can teach me the reason ? like between both MDC1200 System is different ?
My Astro Saber 3can can display the ID when I TX from my Vertex VX-900.
How about the Astro Saber 3 ? could I read the ID if I use the VX-900 for TX and Astro Saber 3 for RX ?

I don't know why they would sound different other than the hardware is different and my create some subtle tone differences, but whatever needs to be there for the phase shift keying (psk) is there and it is all compatible with each other. I have used the Cimarron and Midian boards in the Vertex radios (VX800, VX600, VX420, and VX410) and decoded them all with Motorola radios (GM300, HT1250, HT1550, XTS5000, EX600, EX600xls, CDM1250, Maxtrac, and Radius M110). I have also decoded the Vertex radios with a Zetron Series 4000 PC based console with no problem. The types of messgaes I encoded/Decoded are PTT ID, Emergency ID, Radio Check, and Call Aert. They seem to be 100% compatible from what I found.
