 I just tried on my program. will not do it. I also called our best programmer, will not do it.

how do you like the radio???

i sell vertex stuff in Pittsburgh, but have not sold any 420/410's as of yet.

Vertex has two new portables coming out that cover 450-520.
Not sure when.

Ken,

This MIGHT work.
Locate a VX417/VX420E Version CS radio (440MHz-470MHz).
Obtain a download file from that radio (name.ce64).
Edit the template to your Ham freqs.
Save the file under a new name.
Attempt to upload the file into your radio.
The radio might take the file, it might not.
Be aware the radio will stop at 470MHz if the radio does accept the programming.
If this works, please let me know.
Don't forget the specs may not be up to factory standards, so I'd recommend having it checked on a service monitor before putting it back in service.

I know 417/420 lends it's self to a lot of "hacking" when it comes to hardware configuration (ex. changing a VX417 into a VX420).

Hope this works for you.
