Hi group.
I picked up a Rangr 800MHz EDACS radio with the S850 (I think...it looks like an S-825 but with trunking buttons) at a hamfest. It's programmed up for a local system and it receives EXCELLENT.
Well, I need to reprogram it for a different system (several, if possible). I don't know the first thing about programming these except what I've read online.
Here are my assumptions, please correct me if I'm wrong!
1) The control head need NOT be connected to the radio to program.
2) The control head contains all the channel data and is downloaded to the radio each time it's turned on or the mode is changed.
3) I'm going to need EDACS1 software.
4) I'm going to need the programming cable that goes to J5 on the head.
5) I'm going to need the TQ-3310 RIB.
So, assuming I'm correct with the above.
The programming cable looks very easy to build, I'm sure I can handle that. I don't have the RIB. I do have a Motorola RIB however. Looking on the pinout for the RIB for the Rangr, it seems it only needs 3 data lines. Is there some way I can get these lines from a Motorola RIB? I also don't have the software but I can't imagine it would be too hard to find.
If anyone can PLEASE help me out I'm pretty despirate here!
Thanks very much
BTW, please contact me direct via email... miszak@gmail.com
Thanks again
-Mike
Rangr EDACS help
1. The control head needs doesn't need to be connected to the radio for programming.
2. Yes. Make sure the jumper on the Rangr is set for a downloading head. (There are non-downloading heads, like the S-550 that require a different setting).
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Yes
6. Motorwho? I wouldn't have the slightest idea of how to get the data lines out of a Motorola RIB. :}
