KPG-4 Schematic

KPG-4 Schematic
OK, for all you who might need it, here is the schematic of the Kenwood KPG-4 programming adapter. This is an adapter I designed and built by making a few minor changes to someone else's design. The biggest change I made was the use of the Maxim MAX233CPP instead of the MAX232 IC, because the MAX233 chip doesn't need external 'charge-pump' capacitors like the MAX232 does. I also added a bridge rectifier to the power supply input. I like doing that because it makes circuits such as this immune to 'reverse polarity mistakes'.
If anyone finds any mistakes I made while making the schematic, let me know, and I'll fix it. Enjoy!

Here is also the schematic of the plugs for the KPG-22 programming cable used with some Kenwood portables. It uses the same circuitry as the KPG-4 shown above. As with the KPG-4 schematic, if anyone finds any mistakes, please let me know so I can correct them.

Don't know. The board appeared to have some linking problems or something for a while there. They are appearing fine for me at the moment, but your mileage may vary. If you continue to have problems viewing them, and need the schematics, give me an email addy and I'll send them directly to you.

programmer
schematic looks great -
i use 6 from the radio - it has voltage on it
then you dont need an external source and dont have reverse polarity problems
would need an external pwr source for the HT version - but mobiles would work great without 1

oh also works on 80 series radios as well as 40 series
you still need a battery if you are doign the HT design
i am testing now (once i get my 690 going) - on making a female adaptor so that you can plug the kpg4 into a 90 series radio by unplugging the mic from the mic head - if you get what i mean

OK, thanks for the tip. 12v would indeed be easy to use as a substitute for the external power supply. I'll go back and work that into my schematic.
As for the adapter to use with the '90 series radio, I do indeed know what you mean. sounds like an idea to me . I'm not familiar with all the different models of radios the KPG-4 is compatible with (or can be made compatible with). Give me a list, and I'll include that with the schematic as well.

I am not very inclined to electrical work. Can I aquire one from someone besides ebay? Maybe ? you can email me znb10@yahoo.com
Re: KPG-4 Schematic
I have Kenwood TK-270G that I need to reprogram. Could someone send me the schematic of the Kenwood KPG-22 programing adapter.
What about program software for win Xp.
Thanks
