VX-900 UHF AS1 frequency & VMDE-200 programing

Post by STD »

I bought a VX-900 UHF AS1 model (400Mhz - 430Mhz)and tried to program below 400Mhz and up to 438Mhz.
I can tell the radio cannot program below 400Mhz and cannot program up to 435Mhz.
If you program 399Mhz, the programing software [CE-39]will correct it back to 400Mhz.
If you program 431Mhz to 433Mhz the radio works (TX/RX) but if you program up to 434Mhz and you press PTT, the LCD display will Blink (Frequency unlocked).
I would like to know how to program up to 438Mhz if any experts can teach me.
Another thing is I also bought a Cimarron VMDE-200 but it only support Radio Firmware 1.46 (my Radio is 1.39 & 1.35) and the VMDE-200 also needs the CE-73 to program.
Does anyone can help me how to find the latest firmware (as I know is 1.59) and the CE-73 programing software with the FIF-8.
STD :(

 Do you have any local dealers in your area???

They may also sell/give you the CE73 for the MDC board.

I know with the windows software, out of band programming is not possible.

With the DOS, you could go "a little" out of band. If you can not find a dealer to upgrade the firmware, let me know. I can probable get it done at a minimalshop fee. I do not do that, just regular programming.

Thanks your quick response.
Do you meant that Vertex has DOS version programing software ? just same as big "M" can do programing without hacking ?
If it can do, do I need to do some adjustment for the OSC. for I can TX/RX with in HAM Band (437Mhz) ?
There is a local dealer in my country but they do not support this so this is why I need to post the message, in fact they also do not selling this model VX-900. My VX-900 bought from other country through my friend and he is not a HAM so he does not know about the programing software; firmware etc.
Do you have any other best way to help me ?
Best Regards,

:o The DOS program will most likely not support the MDC board option.

You will need to use windows based, current software, current firmware to use the MDC board.

I recently sold my vx 900 uhf. It was 450-490 split. It would tx 1 watt at 499 meg, but no rx at 496. Go figure. I never tried to go lower than 450 as I had no reason to.

Now I do, but have a GE MRK II scan that will go 440-470, but not above or below.

Our shop guys will not do any software hacking, but occasionally do re-align radio if needed, but with the alignment software.

If I can get my laptop back, I can copy the DOS and send to you to try.
