Vertex VX-3000 Emissions Designation

Post by alzeller1 » Wed Mar 15, 2006 10:49 pm

I am trying to register my Yaesu Vetex VX-3000U with the FCC for a 'IG' license for 464 mhz and I got it all but the FCC Emission Code or Emission Designator Code.

What is it for this unit?

The FCC said all looks good but they need the designation. call the MFG. Japan??

Any ideas.??!!

The emission types for the VX3000 are 16KOF3E for "wide" ±5 kHz (25 kHz), and 11KOF3E "narrow" ±2.5 kHz (12.5 kHz) channel spacing.

Depending on your location, and if it's a new license, you may need to us narrow spacing. Are you using paper or the C.O.R.E.S. online system?

I'm applying via the FCC ULS system online. I confirmed with a PCIA (co-ordinator) that as long as I'm mobile in multiple states (high-security work) that I'll be OK for the IG license with the unit (also have two Motorola handheld units at 4 watts each) that I'm putting on the license application.

They (FCC) only requires one Emission Designator per frequency so I only need the one from the Yaesu.

I know 464.5 is a some-what clogged band up here in NJ but the Motorolas (AXU-4100) are pre-programmed for that narrow range (464.500 and 465.550) so I figure I'll get a mobile license for that band for 6 units and be done with it.

Dumb question is that 11K0F3E or 11KOF3E.??

It is K ZERO. The emission bandwidth is expressed with the K for KHz in place of the decimal point so 11K0 = 11.0 KHz.
