I have a TK2180 and a TK2140. The 2140 resets itself after a certain amount of transmit time. I have a TK2180 works great and I like alot, Wont transmit with my KMC25 Mic. I have 2 mics tried them both. I can hear audio out of the speaker mic but cannot transmit at all. The PTT on the radio works fine.

Thanks In Advance.

The TK-2140 reset sounds like a battery issue.

Check your programming on the TK-2180 (if possible). I'm thinking you might have to enable the radio to have a speaker mic.

Yeah I was thinking Battery with the TK2140, thanks for confirming my suspicion. As for the TK2180 checked KPG89D the latest version KPG89D dont see anything about enabling speaker mic. I recall it did work at one time without any enable as I used it on MURS to talk to the TK2140.

Well, almost all of the speaker mics use a cheap little electret mic element and quite often those go bad.

If the radio won't even PTT, it's probably a bad mic cord.

Make sure that the speaker mic connectors are lining up on radio and make sureit is pretty tight i had same problem and had to make it snug for it to work correctly...

Try cleaning the contacts on the radio & mic with a pencil eraser,
they may look clean but be oxidzed enough to cause a problem
