I have a very nice VX-510U with an old battery. Batteries plus carriers an aftermarket FNB-29A that is rated at 7.2v 2000mah but it is a nickel metal hydride cell chemistry whereas the factory FNB-29A is a 7.2v 1700mah Nicad. I own both the newer CD-8 and older CD-3 rapid charger. Are there any caveats about charging this battery in these chargers? I sent VX Standard tech support an email and have yet to get a reply (like that's a shocker). I don't want to pay 69.99 for a pack from BP if it's not going to charge correctly and get hosed.

There's a good chance you can fry the NiMh battery if left charging too long. A NiCd charger won't have the circuitry to sense when a NiMh battery if at/approaching full charge. I'm sure it'll work for you but you'd be better off getting a dual or tri-chemistry charger.
