TK-790 Voice Scrambler Deinstallation

I have a TK-890 with the speech scrambler installed. I can't find any
Manufacturer info on it so I did a search on the connector CN508 that
it connects to and found some instructions for isntalling it. It calls
for the removal of R515 and R604 from the radio. If I remove this unit,
will the radio still properly work without these resistors in place?
I'm wanting to remove it to reinstall in another radio.

Thanks,

Jason

Not sure if this will help you, but when I installed the scramblers on my 880, I had to remove 2 zero ohm resistors. They are used for the mic and receive audio. Without have a radio manual for your radio, I don't know if this is the same thing.

The board is more than likely a Transcrypt board. We install them for the DTF(drug task force)into 790's and from what I hear they are registered to that radio and to the person(s) using that radio.Other than that,I can't help you.

I don't have a manual handy for the 890 but, on most Kenwwod radios, installation of the scrambler involves removal of 0 Ohm resistors to route the TX and RX audio through the scrambler board. If the scrambler board is removed, those resistors need to be put back to restore the audio paths.
